I was hoping to get an honest opinion from the moderators here at SmartHide. I don't see too many people posting here so that makes me a little worried as well. But what i'm looking for is a program that will hide my IP while surfing, playing games as well as data encryption for when I download various things from around the web without getting throttled by my ISP. Is smarthide the all in one im looking for? Why choose Smarthide over some of the others? Also I have been using the free anonymizer and like it so far, the only inconvenience i have noticed so far is that it works great, says i'm from germany, but now all the pages I open up are in German! hahah is there a way to switch where your IP is supposedly coming from in the full version? -Thanks for your time.

Hi there,
I don't see too many people posting here so that makes me a little worried as well
That's because this is a new forum that just replaced the old forum so there won't be a lot of activity here yet.
Smarthide provides encryption between your computer to SmartHide server therefore preventing your ISP from logging your surfing habits. Please visit the diagram for more in-dept information:

Is smarthide the all in one im looking for?
From what you asked (such as hide IP, encrypting data, etc) pretty much makes Smarthide all you need. Please visit this link if you want to learn more about why you should hide your IP address:

Why choose Smarthide over some of the others?
When you use a proxy sever, you have to automatically give a certain amount of trusts to that proxy server, meaning that you trust that it won't keep your browsing habits and use it maliciously. With Smarthide, your surfing logs are deleted daily (unless the Arovax staff changed that policy) so rest assure that you're browsing with complete anonymity and ease. I can't say the same thing to ip-hiding softwares (such as Ghost Surf, etc) because I've never used them (except SmartHide). But I am aware that certain programs have complex settings that might cause quite a bit of confusion. With SmartHide, all you have to do is hit the big blue button to browse the web privately.
Also please visit the privacy policy page for additional info:

Yes, with the full version, you can pick which server to use to surf privately with. In fact, the Arovax Staff just recently got another server for use:

I hope that helps. If you're not certain of something, please feel free to reply back. :D
I'm going to be completely honest with you. If you asked the same question but to a different company, you'll probably get a completely different answer. What I've told is based off of my own experience with SmartHide and other proxy servers. You're more than welcome to research other programs and compare it with SmartHide, but I'm sure that you'll love SmartHide and that you'll be able to use it with ease.

Lightbug covered pretty much every aspect of your questions. SmartHide will make you happy as soon as you start using it daily. I just want to point out, that if you want to play online games (http://smarthide.helpserve.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=34&nav=0,5,8) or use p2p torrents (http://smarthide.helpserve.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=33&nav=0,5,8) - you should go on with Personal Subscription. It will give you a dedicated private IP address for your use only and you will be able to use our Port Forwarding (http://smarthide.helpserve.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=35&nav=0,5,8) feature.
If you do not play online games which require some special port to be open (for example if you want to host a server in the game) and your internet is NOT behind NAT, you use direct connection to internet and it has a "white" external IP address (not something like 192.168.1.45) - then you can use torrents with Regular Subscription.
But if you want to be sure that you will be able to manage your ports, play every Multiplayer online game or use all p2p networks without problems - you need to choose Personal Subscription.
I hope we answered most of your questions. Please address our Knowledgebase (http://smarthide.helpserve.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=view&parentcategoryid=5&nav=0) to find answers to Frequently asked questions. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thanks for the response as well as your personal opinion. It sounds like SmartHide is the way to go for me but just like everything else its smartest to research before you buy. As for ease of use, it is a huge plus, but the main thing I'm looking for is security, I want to be able to confidently browse the web anonymously as well as feel secure in what I download.

Also whats the benefit of one kind of account over the other? Why would the $10 account not work just as easily/well on P2P networks as the $15 one? I know you gave a brief description earlier, but is there a more elaborate run down on what account would be best for a particular user?

Speaking about p2p networks Personal IP subscription gives 100% guarantee that file sharing will work flawlessly, as both incoming and outgoing connections will be accepted. Besides the benefits in p2p networks, there's a number of "goodies" providing you with additional security while surfing or during any other internet activity.
Also we plan to increase the number of services we offer to our clients on the basis of Personal IP Subscription.

Excellent! looks like the personal account is what i'm looking at, but I have one last question which would be the selling point for me to buy this product. I'm looking to protect not only my desktop computer but also my laptop as well, what can you guys do for me? I plan on being a customer for as long as you continue to protect me, so what can you do, what would my options be?

If you want to save some money - go on with 12-Month Personal Subscription. In this way SmartHide will cost ~12.49$ per month. You can simultaneously use SmartHide on your PC OR on your notebook. You will need to disconnect from SmartHide on PC in order to connect on the notebook.
